Lastest Updates:
- Verification is complete. The SUMMIT catalog has been restored. We will be resuming normal operations at 1:45 PM today. Please read the after the upgrade section below. (Wed, 5/21 at 1:30 PM)
Previous updates:
- Data work completed. Verification/acceptance to take place today. Launching of new SUMMIT also to take place today. (Wednesday, 5/21 9:45 AM)
- Data work has been completed. Software and services work has begun (Tues., 11:00AM)
- Client software is rolling out to desktop PCs in Bird and SciTech as of 8:30 AM Tuesday.
- Indexing has begun. It will run through the evening and possibly into tomorrow. (Monday, 5:15 PM)
- The upgrade has begun as of 8 AM today. (Monday)
- The SUMMIT catalog has been put in a read-only mode (no requests or renewals, and items charged or discharged on paper or in offline circ will not have their status updated) as of 9 AM.
- Regular clients are unavailable. Circ units should plan for their regular outage procedures for charge and discharge.
- Preparations for the upgrade have been completed, and we are on schedule to begin Monday, May 19.
- The upgrade will take place May 19-22, 2008.
- The group charged with the planning of this upgrade was assembled and met on May 8, 2007.
What you can expect:
| Sunday, May 18: |
All Voyager clients except Reporter (Circulation, Acquisitions, Cataloging, CallSlip, Reserves, and System Administration) will not be working after 11:00 PM. |
| Monday, May 19: |
Reporter will be shut down at 9 AM. SUMMIT will be down from 8 AM -10 AM (approximately). Requests and renewals will not be working. Web pages and other online resources will be available. Database reporting from MyReports, Access Reports, and VgerSelect will be unavailable.

| Tuesday, May 20: |
Clients will remain down. A message will come out with details of installing the new Voyager clients. Web pages and other online resources will be available. Requests and renewals will not be working. Database reporting will be unavailable.

| Wednesday, May 21: |
.Clients will remain down. Web pages and other online resources will be available. Requests and renewals will not be working. Database reporting will be unavailable.

| Thursday, May 22: |
Clients will be down in the morning. An email message will be sent to you when you can log in and resume working. SUMMIT will go down for at least 2 hours; when it comes back up, online renewals and requests will resume. Web pages and other online resources may unavailable for part of this period. Database reporting through MyReports should be available; other methods will require upgrades to work. |

Reporter, z39.50 services, spine labeling, and cataloger toolkit add-ons may not be immediately available after the upgrade. They will be made available as soon as possible. |
During the upgrade:
- At one point during the upgrade time, you will receive an email message, indicating that the upgraded software will be loaded onto your machines. Even after the software is loaded, you will NOT be able to log in.
- Another email will come out at the end of the upgrade process announcing when you will be able to log in and resume your usual work.
- A select handful of your coworkers have been asked to log in while the upgrade is still in progress to check the process for accuracy. Please be respectful of them, and wait until you receive the message indicating that you are free to log in.
